The Minority in Parliament has asked the Minister of Finance to submit details on how much the state has spent on the National Cathedral Project.

Following the distribution of a letter suggesting the release of an additional GH25 million from government coffers as additional seed money for the project, the action was taken.

During this time, the government has stated that the national cathedral project will be mostly funded by Christian community donations.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, questioned the allocation of state finances to the national cathedral project in a news conference.

President Akufo-Addo, according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, ordered the money to be released.

He believes that the decision is inconsiderate to regular Ghanaians' hardship in the wake of the country's current economic woes.

The administration suggested the National Cathedral project in March 2017 as a tangible manifestation of national togetherness, harmony, and spirituality.
