Over two hundred people have been arrested in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Area for violating Government directive of total lockdown.
Governor Nyesom Wike who monitored the level of compliance in the two local Government Areas said those arrested will be quarantine and prosecuted according to the law.
During the monitoring exercise, the governor arrested several persons who were not on essential duties but were in company of police escort.
Governor Wike imposed a curfew in these Local Government Areas following disobedience of closure of markets, cinemas and nights clubs.
Meanwhile, Ikwerre Local Government Area is now on total lock down after the Local Government Area Chairman, Samuel Nwanosike confirmed this today.
Some of the communities under Ikwerre LGA include: Igwuruta, Omagwa, Isiokpo, Ozuaha, Ubima, Omawa and Ipo.
Several major cities across Nigeria are on lock down in a bid to curb the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic which has killed thousands of people in Europe and America.
