Legendary Kenyan boys music group, Sauti Sol is set to take their music genius up another notch by the launch of a reality show on Maisha Magic, starting on 2nd, August.
Famous for danceable hits such as Suzanna, Kuliko Jana and Rhumba Japani, Sauti Sol are a household name in African music.
The reality show dubbed Sol Family seeks to explore the lives and works of the artists beyond the stage. Similar efforts by another popular Kenyan artist to host a reality show have however ended up in dismal failure.
With their clean lyrics and decent dancing styles it remains to be seen whether the group will be the exception in the rule.
Some of their music such as "Extravaganza" are anthems sung and danced to by people of all classes and orientations.
No doubt the Kenyan music group has scaled the heights of greatness, it now remains to be seen whether they can hold the interest of a television audience weekly.
Sol Family is a creation of Eugene Mbugua, who was also involved with the Kenya Film Commission sponsored Concert Nyumbani.
The group is made up of four long-time friends, Delvin Mudigi, Bien-Aime Baraza, Polycarp Otieno and Willis Austin Chimano.
One of the most memorable collaborations they did was with Nigerian songstress Yemi Alade which ended up stamping the name Sauti Sol, indelibly, in the African music scene.
The group is currently signed to the lucrative label Universal Music Africa.
The big show to air on Maisha Magic premiers on 2nd August,2020 at 7:30 pm.
For the boys group it's been a long journey to the top, but certainly the efforts are paying off.
