Deputy Governor H.E Prof Philip Kutima's bid for Kakamega gubernatorial seat got a boost after Kakamega traders declared that they will back him.
They said Kutima has experience having served as a deputy for a governor who is s top performer for two terms.
The traders added that the Deputy Governor was capable of transforming the County and vowed that they will rally traders in the county behind him.
"We have confidence in Prof Kutima. We know he has a transformative agenda for the County. Having worked with Governor Dr Wycliffe Oparanya, he has learnt a lot and through the experience he has gained he is best placed to take over the leadership of this County," said Vickson Asutsi, coordinator of the team.
The traders among them barbers and hairdressers affirmed their support for Prof Kutima saying they will help him win more support across the County.
They requested the Deputy Governor to help them get trained in various skills to run their businesses.
They also urged him to support them through empowerment by helping them get capital to boost their businesses.
H.E Prof Kutima assured them of his support as he asked them to stand with him so that he can succeed Dr Oparanya.
He said he has worked well with the Governor for the last nine years and he is the best bet to be the County boss.
"I have learnt a lot for the period I have worked with the Governor. Immediately I get into office I will continue with our development agenda," said Prof Kutima.
He urged the traders to form Cooperatives to enable them benefit from Government funds.
"We will sign an MoU with all traders to agree on areas we can support them to boost their businesses," he said.
