Rarieda Member of Parliament, honorable Otiende Amollo, is currently in a hot soup after his seat gone hanging in the balance after three voters moved to court to have him barred from August polls. In a petition filled at Milimani law courts on Friday, George Bush, Erick Onyango and Peter Agoro asked the court to bar the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission from the clearing senior counsel over the management of the Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
Amollo is one of the Members of Parliament who received a direct party ticket from Orange Democratic Movement ODM in the party primaries. The petitioner wants the legislator compelled to explain the report by the Auditor General which raised questions over some withdrawals from the CDF kitty. Reports further revealed that the petitioners had written to Ethics and Anti corruption Commission EACC demanding that the legislator be summoned for questioning.
In 2021, Amollo received an award as the best MP in Kenya after he was recognised for management of CDF funds.
In other words, if Otiende's petitioners win the ongoing case, he may have no choice but to quit elections in August.
In the meantime, thank you for reading my article.
