Yoane Wissa's late score earned Brentford a point against Liverpool in a sizzling 3-3 thriller in west London.

Ethan Pinnock's close-range strike (26) had stunned the Premier League leaders early on, but Diogo Jota leveled the scores five minutes later with a bullet header.

Before half-time, David Raya made a fantastic stop to deny the striker once more, but he was defeated nine minutes later by a silky Mohamed Salah finish, only after a VAR check reversed the assistant referee's first judgment to disallow the goal for offside.

Janelt drew Brentford level with a 63rd-minute header, but Liverpool retaliated soon, with Curtis Jones' long-range shot deflecting off Kristoffer Ajer and beyond Raya's reach (67).

Wissa, who had only come on as a substitute four minutes before, hoisted the ball over Alisson to pull Brentford level (82) and stretch Liverpool's lead at the top to a single point, while the Bees leapfrog Tottenham into ninth place.

Brentford matched their manager's pre-match threat to 'attack' Liverpool with a tense 3-3 draw at the Brentford Community Stadium on a tremendous Saturday evening.

Two goal-line clearances in the first ten minutes of a pulsating match in west London were a preview of things to come.

Brentford took the lead in the 27th minute, catching Liverpool off guard with a diabolical set piece move that Ethan Pinnock knocked in.

Within five minutes, Diogo Jota had levelled the game for Liverpool, as Salah and Jordan Henderson took advantage of Brentford's fading goalscorer, who was clearly injured and forced off.

After the break, Liverpool's superior individual quality put them ahead. Fabinho took advantage of the first bit of space he was given on the edge of the box, floating a lethal pass over the Brentford back line for Salah to calmly volley in his 100th Premier League goal for Liverpool, which was awarded following a VAR review.

Brentford's Vitaly Janelt flooded players forward throughout the game, finally forcing the ball over the line shortly after the hour mark. Curtis Jones put an end to the hosts' pleasure, slamming a long-range attempt past Raya with the help of a deflection to make it 3-2.

Brentford, on the other hand, would not be quiet. Yoane Wissa, a second-half substitute, exhibited ice-cold calm to equalize in the 82nd minute over the flailing Alisson, earning the Bees their first draw against Liverpool since 1947.
